Getting ready for the campground.

January is the perfect month to get your camping checklist ready.

If you are a camper, this is the best time to look at your camping timeline.
Some campgrounds are scheduling eight months out, so plan accordingly.

Ten things to check before the first camping trip

1.       Give camping vehicles a complete check-up. Once the weather is ready, pull out tents, set them up, and look for rips, leaks, and mold.
2.       Freshen up all bedding. Take a look at clothing, rain gear, anything that stays in the camper or with the tent.
3.       Wash all rugs and other big items that need to go through the laundry.
4.       Go through kitchen goods, re-stock essential kitchen items like foils, baggies, trash bags, cleaning supplies. Re-stock can goods and spice items left in the camper, throw out expired goods.
5.       Check all alarm systems, make sure fire extinguishers are in working order. Freshen up the first aid kit for adults and pets.

6.       Turn on cooking sources to make sure everything is working correctly.
7.       This is an excellent time to go through the pots and pans, dishes, glasses, tableware.
8.       Go through tools, restock tapes, ropes, check outside tents, chairs, and tables to ensure they are all in working order.

9. Update the entertainment; add new puzzles, card games, camp stories.
10. Invest in a good camping guide that showcases the camping experience.

The Night Sky

Fall in love with the night sky,
invest in a telescope or a pair of good binoculars.

The Milky Ways is filled with surprises. Scanning the sky with no objective is a great way to enjoy an evening under the stars.
