Easy to make-easy to store-easy first night extra

You can make this recipe the night before for an easy first-night camping meal.

1 can favorite bbq beans
1/2 chopped onion
2 slices of bacon chopped (optional)
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/2 -1 teaspoon of pepper
1/4-1/2 cup favorite bbq sauce-Use spicy sauce to complement the brown sugar.

Cook chopped bacon and onion together over high heat. Add brown sugar, bbq sauce and pepper-stir together to combine all ingredients, add beans and cook for 15-20 min on top of stove med heat, or you can put in oven 350 degrees for 1/2 hour. Remove from the heat source, let cool—place in a storage container.

At the Campsite

Put beans in pot or if in RV they can be microwaved. You can cook an additional 1/2 to hour for a sticky final sauce but stir once after 30 minutes to make sure the beans are not sticking to the bottom of the pan. If microwaved use recommended time for your device, remember to cover bowl with paper towel as beans tend to pop and spatter if over microwaved. Suggest putting over open fire in vintage iron or dutch oven pot for a full camp experience.

Perfect with BBQ, hot dogs, hamburgers. Skip the bacon for vegan style.
