Loving Pizza

Bringing pizza into the campground is a game changer.

Make it your own

Every camper is different so use your own dough or buy store bought

Easy dough recipe
3 cups bread flour (more for dusting)

2 1/4 teaspoon of yeast or use a yeast package
1 cup warm to the touch water
pinch sugar
pinch salt
olive oil

Create dough by hand or with a mixer-use dough hook.

Let rise at least a few hours in a warm spot.

We like to use the dough on the second day.

If you are looking to make your own dough there are some great videos on technique and style-also look at pizza dough recipes with a longer fermentation process, for a more distinct flavor profile.

Pizza dough makes anywhere from 6-8 dough balls for a 12” pizza. Each dough ball is placed in a small baggie or container, but you can use what works best for you. Once in the campground one-two hours before pizza, place dough balls on a flat surface to rise, cover with plastic wrap and cloth to keep a skin from forming as the dough balls rise. Turn on the pizza oven. It should take about 45-min to an hour for the pizza oven to heat up-check the thermostat on the box. Get at least 2-4 pizza bases ready because this pizza oven cooks fast. Roll out dough, (we like to go rustic with our pizzas) add sauce, then let everyone create their pizzas. Perfect with a salad. You can also purchase pizza boxes and use them as plates for easy clean-up. Camp Note: bake your pizza dough rounds half way and freeze flat on cardboard surface until ready for use.

Restaurant supply stores carry pizza trays, and accessories.

Pizza dough update: Food and Wine has a amazing artisan pizza dough recipe. 3 day process but worth it.
