Camping Essentials-The first aid kit.

First Aid Kits are the first things to think about before getting out into the campground.

Buy a kit or create your own!

Purchased First Aid Kits come in many sizes; brand kits usually have all needed items for any camping necessity.
Think about having a complete first aid kit with a secondary smaller “must have” kit to take along on hikes and camping adventures.
Don’t forget the pets.

Nicks and scrapes are a campground favorite so keep a drawer or space for emergency basics like bandages in assorted sizes and antiseptic wipes.

DIY: Create your own camp first aid kit with all your components layered inside a fishing tackle box.

Snake Bites
Get medical help ASAP!

Bitten by a poisonous snake, the first thing to do and most important is staying calm and keeping the wound below heart rate. Do not walk unless necessary. The timeline to medical attention is best within 30 minutes. Mark the time of the bite. Take a picture of the snake or remember the markings. Pay attention to personal temperature and skin color changes, and if there are bandages in the first aid kit, wrap the wound with overlapping turns where fingers can fit between the application and the skin. Not too tight-keep above heart rate.
Always know where the closest veterinary and hospitals are in your camping locations, cell signals are not always a given.

Pets-keep your pet calm and get them to a veterinary hospital as soon as possible.
