Memorial Day Camping Checklist with the Let's Go Camping Guide
To all the men and women serving in our military, to all veterans, especially to my father, a Marine who served and loved this country, flying your flag this weekend. Wishing we were sitting in the campground listening to your stories.
Camping on holiday can be a lot of fun, but it can also be very crowded, so think about a few things before hitting the road and getting around the campground.
If driving through small towns, take note of road closures for Memorial Day Parades
Full campgrounds run out of toilet paper, bring your own as a backup.
Things to consider before hitting the road.
Fill up gas tank the night before.
Let someone know your travel schedule
Pay attention to small-town speed limits.
If you are camping with kids plan activities and games for the road trip.
Practice setting up your tent or trailer before leaving
Make sure you have pet water and restraints ready for your arrival.
Have reservations information and driving routes mapped out.
Know the overall feel of the campground, running water, toilets, showers.
Don't forget the first aid kit and most of all.
Stop along the way and enjoy the landscape.
Create a Camp Drink
No matter the beverage, the camp drink should also be part of the camping checklist.
Keep it simple if you are going with a theme drink.
Make it easy to go non-alcoholic.
Bottle the components, so you don’t have to do it in the campground.
Cut up all fruit, including slices for decoration.
Make simple syrups, mixed drink components and rim sugars ahead of time.
Add fun camping bling like sugar rims, umbrellas, straws, fruits, and herbs.
