The Holiday Meal is all about planning.

The Holiday Meal is all about planning.

Set the Holiday Table.

Checklist are important when it comes to creating the perfect holiday meal, get into the campground with meal planning for the holidays.

Holiday meals are about family.
Traditions are familiar even in the campground.
The meal is important but the checklist and planning make it easy.

Think about the holiday table setting. Most camp tables seat six but working with the ends of the table; you can squeeze in eight easily.

Plan a centerpiece that works with the meal. For example, instead of candles, use twinkly lights that are solar or battery-powered. Use fruits and vegetables for centerpieces that everyone can dine on during dinner.

Layer up the table cloths so you can pull them off if it gets stained and the new table cloth or table setting underneath is fresh and ready for the next meal.

Create fun paper settings with crayons for holiday messages.

Designate help by creating cards where everyone is responsible for the holiday meal, like setting the table, cooking, bringing food to the table, and cleaning up.

Stop along the way to the campground and enjoy the local vibe. Bring the local ingredients to the table with fresh veggies and fruits.

Have a clean-up station. Supply one bin for trash and another for items that have to be washed. This way, things don’t pile up. Instead, washed items are all in one space, ready for clean up.

Break down and wash items from easy to clean to dirtiest, like pots and pans. Once all is clean, remember to strain the grey water before dispersing it over the campground away from the camp spot and water sources.

Take the time to stroll the campground after a big meal, take a hike or find a spot and enjoy the scenery.

Remember, the wildlife is watching, hoping for a few morsels from the holiday meal.

Always remember
Leave No Trace.
